Back to School Scrapbook Pages

Most parents probably took first day of school pictures for 2012.  Whether they are still on the card in your camera, uploaded to your computer, taken with your iPhone, or printed out, all of you scrapbookers will soon be ready to document this day in your child's life.

Below you will find two layouts of the first day of school.  Each was completed with paper from different companies: Little Yellow Bicycle and Basic Grey.  Check them out, and if you like the materials visit www.thememorynest.com.

The above layout was created using Little Yellow Bicycle's Making the Grade paper collection.  I used two sheets of New Notebook/Blue Fun Dot.  The rest of the blue fun dot was used in the second page of the layout (not included in this blog).

I used white cardstock to frame the 5x7 picture.  The strip of paper with the stars was used from the  School Bands/Brown Stripe paper.  It was a thin strip - I used two additional strips on the second page of this layout (I will post the double page layout on www.thememorynest.com and/or The Memory Nest Facebook page).  The embellishments were from the Making the Grade Cardstock Stickers entitled Fresh Verse.

This adorable page was created using Basic Grey's Midterm paper from the Oxford line.  I used two different colors of blue to accent the paper and my son's shirt.  I cut a 1/2" strip and a 2" strip of the lighter blue paper.  The larger of the two was placed along the bottom and used for part of my title.

The thin strip was arranged with two strips for the Midterm paper (one using the front design and the other using the print on the back).  The title was cut on the Cricut using the Midterm paper with a solid blue or white as a shadow.  I also cut out two of the writing utensils from the leftover Midterm paper and adhered them along side the picture, which was matted using white cardstock.

  1. I think that making a scrapbook of the student’s vacation would be an interesting project for kids when they get back to school. And those pictures taken by phones and tablets would definitely make it easier to do so. It can serve as a printed memorabilia for them afterwards.
