Special Guest Designer!

Today I have an extra special guest designer, my son!  The other afternoon
we had so much fun scrapping together.  He created a basketball page and
soccer page with so much creativity.  My children are very artsy in many ways.
He was so proud of his work that he asked if I could put it on my website.

The basketball page has a Washi Tape boarder.  He could not wait to use the
Washi tape - guess he must hear me talk about it a lot - and needed a little help
the first time.  He cut and drew his own basketballs - check out the hoop!  And a
couple of the balls were orange chipboard circle, he added the lines.
His bubble letters also have lines like a basketball.

His second page was soccer.  He drew a cleat and had this vision of
a ball being kicked.  We cut out a soccer ball on the Cricut.  Of course, he
wanted to use the Washi tape again - chose the color and did it himself.
The surprise was the cut out pictures inside of the ball.

Happy Creating with all the scrapbookers in your life!

Shutters: Decor and Pinterest Inspired Storage

The project that inspired my creation was  Washi Tape Storage using a shutter created by Crafting in the Rain.  Thank you to Steph for sharing her wonderful idea!  I went to the ReCONNstruction store (the same place I purchased the window for my picture project) and found two shutters. I used one for my Pinterest Inspired Project and the other as a decoration. I painted the Washi Tape shutter white and used paper clips to hang the rolls of Washi!

The second shutter I painted grey with the intention of painting a white coat over it. This would allow me to distress the shutter to make it look old.  As I began painting the white coat I realized that light brush strokes gave it the old look I wanted, which eliminated sanding and distressing.  I love how the shutter matches the background in the spring school photographs.

Birthday Cards!

I have been on a roll making cards lately. I guess it is good practice
for this newbie card maker.  These cards were made for my
cousins' birthdays using the Glitz Cashmere Dame line.

Happy Card Making,

June Color Challenge!

Hello and welcome to our June color challenge.  Rachel and Jessica both submitted
layouts in which each included a picture with the love of their life.  In keeping with them,
I did the same thing.   These colors were so fun to work with.  We hope you will be
inspired to create a layout or card.

Happy Creating with color!

Pinterest Inspired End of School Year!

Hello and Happy Friday.  Today is an exciting day at our house because it is the last day of school!!  Yippee.  I am so excited that I get a break from cold lunches.  And what better day for school to end than the first day of summer.

In honor of the last day school, I decided to share the teacher gifts that were inspired by Pinterest.  The first two pics are the Thanks for keeping me on "Target" and the Bucket List tag which was on the blog Landee See Landee Do.  She was nice enough to share her printouts for personal use.  Thanks Landee - I just love these two ideas.

The third picture was based on an idea I saw on Pinterest intended for a Valentine's day teacher gift (kids hands in the shape of a heart). I made the heart and added the kids pictures as a border (faces blurred to protect privacy - but you can see my little guy).  It was my son's idea to say the "We" heart "You."  The collage was printed on 12x12 photo paper from Costco.  This picture does not do it any justice - it is absolutely adorable in person. Actually, breathtaking.

Last you will see the three cards that I created for the two teachers and the bus driver.  All were inspired by card sketches on Pinterest.

Happy Summer and Last day of school,

Design Team Announcement Part 2

The 2nd moment you all have been waiting for....The rest of the Design Team.

The Memory Nest would like to welcome this group of talented and creative
ladies ~ the Hummingbirds ~ to our nest.  I look forward to working with them and
seeing what they create.

I am 30 years old and a full-fledged California girl. My high-school sweetheart and I have been married for two and a half years and it has been quite the adventure! We recently adopted our first furbaby, a dachshund named Shady. As you can imagine, he has been my primary scrap subject lately. I also love scrapping photos of my daily shenanigans and am STILL working on my wedding album (I know, I know). I have been a scrapbooker for twelve years but it really became a serious hobby within the last five. Primarily I like to do layouts but occasionally I'll make a card or altered item. When I am not scrapping, I love reading and taking trips to the beach. I am so excited to be joining The Memory Nest team.

Hi, I'm Crystal and I'm so excited to be on the summer design team at the Memory Nest. I live in Iowa with my husband and 2 beautiful daughters. I'm a stay at home mom so during the school year I have a lot of time to focus on my scrapbooking. In my free time I volunteer at school, work out and read other then scrapbooking (of course). I started scrapbooking about 11 years ago my first scrapbook was my wedding book. My style has changed a lot since then but I think it is always changing just like the trends you see in scrapbooking. My favorite color to scrapbook with is pink so I'm lucky most of my pages are about my girls. I love scrapbook challenges they make me think of different ways of scrapbooking that I would not think of on my own.

Jessica B
I have been scrapbooking for fifteen years - ever since I created my first scrapbook to chronicle a high school mission trip! I fell in love with the creative process of artfully capturing memories and have been hooked ever since. My personal style is classic and I favor a photo driven approach.

Jessica J
My name is Jessica and I live in sunny Southern California. I have been married to my husband for 8 years and have two wonderful children, Trinity 6 and Luke 4. I have been scrapbooking for 6 years and the majority of pages revolve around my children. I work full-time and enjoy my scrap breaks whenever I get a chance.

Hi! I'm Lenny. I'm an enthusiastic teacher. I teach French and my students are 12 - 14 years old.
It isn't always easy, it can be stressy and I have a lot of school work, but I always wanted to teach and I'm still loving it!!Whenever I have some free time, I wanna do something creative; it relaxes me!  Creative things that I love: scrapbooking, card making, floral arranging, baking, ...
I also love reading, traveling, gardening, going to the movies, ...
I love spending time with family and friends.
Daydreaming about meeting some of my crafty friends in real life ...
I live in Belgium but my n°1 favorite country is the USA!! About 20 years ago, our school did an exchange with an American school and I fell in love with that beautiful country ... I just love it over there! :)

My name is Raechelle (pronounced like Rachel) Bellus. I am married and have a blended family of 6 beautiful children; five girls ages 13, 17, 18, 22, and 22 as well as a boy who is 23. Our family is blossoming; we have a daughter-in-law, a son-in-law, a grandson, and our first sweet granddaughter is due to arrive in October. We also have 2 dogs and 4 cats. I work part time in a lumberyard. It is a physical job, however I do spent a lot of time at a desk doing reports and various paperwork in addition to handling the lumber.
I have been scrapping for about 12 years now.  I enjoy creating layouts most often, but do enjoy making cards as well, and an occasional off the page item. I describe my style as mostly girly. I really enjoy mixing patterns, using butterflies, misting and twine, and I always try to use something from my stash for each layout. I love to read and make time just about every day to do so. I am excited to work with the challenges here at The Memory Nest and am looking forward to sharing and being inspired by others who share my passion for paper.

I live in Seattle, WA and I am a stay at home mommy of a little girl (who loves to work on her own "scrapbook" with mommy) and a baby brother on the way.  I have been scrapbooking since I was kid, but there wasn't much more than punches, solid colored paper, and stickers in the 90's.  So, I made a lot of my own embellishments and I still like to make a lot of my own to this day.  I also like to play handbells and juggle when I'm not scrapbooking or chasing my daughter around.

We hope you will join these lovely ladies and play along with the challenges.
Happy Creating!
