Shutters: Decor and Pinterest Inspired Storage

The project that inspired my creation was  Washi Tape Storage using a shutter created by Crafting in the Rain.  Thank you to Steph for sharing her wonderful idea!  I went to the ReCONNstruction store (the same place I purchased the window for my picture project) and found two shutters. I used one for my Pinterest Inspired Project and the other as a decoration. I painted the Washi Tape shutter white and used paper clips to hang the rolls of Washi!

The second shutter I painted grey with the intention of painting a white coat over it. This would allow me to distress the shutter to make it look old.  As I began painting the white coat I realized that light brush strokes gave it the old look I wanted, which eliminated sanding and distressing.  I love how the shutter matches the background in the spring school photographs.

  6. Such a great way to store washi, Leslie! I'd lean toward making the home decor shutter because I only have three rolls of washi. LOL!

    1. Really Lisa! Do you like Washi? Yeah - guess you don't need it for Washi storage but can even be used for ribbon.
