Beach Life

Memorial Day Weekend is fast approaching and  it is the kickoff to summer. (Although it seems like we will be getting a lot of rain - YUCK!) I thought sharing a beach layout would be a great way to celebrate summer coming.

I love using sketches and color challenges to create my layouts.  I host two each month but I also enjoy playing around with other challenges.  Let's face it, I create more than two scrapbook layouts a month and the inspiration helps.

Today I am playing along with the Sketch from The Paper Bakery and the color challenge from Color Me Scrappy.  I love combining two challenges.  The sketch caught my eye because I love arrows on a page.  The colors worked well with the beach theme.

One more thing: I created my own "chipboard" letters for the word LIFE.  Using a hot cocoa box and the patterned paper, I cut out the letters twice and adhered the paper letters to the cardboard ones.  It makes them pop off the page a little and gives the title more depth [just like the chipboard arrows - which I sanded a little].

Happy Memorial Day Weekend,

  17. I really love it Leslie! The arrows might have caught your eye but what draws me in is the placement of the papers across the page. I would never think to do that. All of your colors and elements work so well together and those letters you made are very cool!
