More Photo Sleeves Galore

Another photo sleeve scrapbook page.  I love using these pages when you have a gazillion pictures from one event to scrap.  This is my son learning to ride his bike without training wheels.  The paper used on this page is from the Good Life collection by Fancy Pants.  See this paper used on layouts in other Memory Nest blog posts.  The blank 4x6 sections can be used for titles are journaling  (as you can see I did not finish those parts).

Look for the photo sleeves at  The Memory Nest online store.  If there is
something specific you are looking for please let
us know!  We would be happy to try and get it for you.

The Happy to Ride my Bike Life!

A big accomplishment when you are little is learning to ride your bike without training wheels.  My son finally accomplished that feat this year.  When I saw the bikes on the sticker strip in the Good Life stickers by Fancy Pants, I knew I wanted to use this collection for his page.
(the 5x7 picture is not the best quality since it was taken with my iPhone.  It was one of those moments I was glad I had my phone since my camera was home).

The products used on this page are Sweet, Happy, That Way, Tape Stickers and Layered Stickers.  The background is Walnut Cream by Bazzill cardstock.

Check out this collection at www.thememorynest.com and look for other posts with
layouts using this line of paper.

They ARE the Good Life!

Many of us have things that make our lives good.  The Good Life paper collection by Fancy Pants is great for documenting all the good things in our lives that happen or that we are thankful for.  The materials I used in this layout were Tape Stickers, Layered Stickers and papers That Way, Sweet, and All Good.  The subject of my "good life" are my children.  This picture of them brings a smile to my face and fills my heart with love.

Happy Documenting your "Good Life!"

"The Good Life"

The Good Life isn't  just how we all feel when scrapbooking our memories but it is also a paper collection by Fancy Pants.  I love the colors and embellishments in this collection.  I decided to use this line to scrapbook one of my accomplishments in life ~ 25 mile bike tour for MS.  Yes, 25 miles on a bike for a girl who is not really athletic.  Talk about being proud of oneself.  It all started with Spinning, which I LOVE, and then turned into training for 25 miles on the road.

The materials used on this two page layout (which can be done as one) are: Live
(front & back - back used for the picture mat), Layered Stickers, Tape Stickers,
and Bazzill Cardstock Aqua.  By the way, I love the layered flag & flower stickers.

(the pictures that I used on these pages were taken with my iPhone, hence the low print quality)

So take some time and create a page showcasing something about yourself that makes you proud.

Happy Saluting and Recognizing
 the wonderful YOU!

Are you a Soccer Mom?

Well, I am not one of those crazy soccer moms standing on the sideline yelling
at her kid, but I do enjoy proudly cheering my son on at his games.  Here is a layout about
me (wow that rarely happens) using the Fancy Pants Little Sport collection. I created
two different soccer pages with some of the Soccer paper on both layouts (see previous post).

Items used on the Soccer Mom page are Soccer, Pinstripe, All Star,
Die Cut Banners and Die Cut PiecesI used burgundy paper that
I had in my stash.  The picture was matted with the solid sides of Soccer
and Pinstripe.  The title was cut out on the Cricut and I attached a black
brad for some dimension.

Look Mom, No Hands!

Soccer is one of the sports that my son plays.  As his mom, I think that he is pretty good....and he is much better at not using his hands.  This is his 4th year playing soccer.  When he and his friends first started out at 3 years old, their little hands would want to grab the ball.  Now as a 7 year old, these kids have tremendously improved at the game of soccer.

I was thrilled with the way this page came out. I love how I used the
All Star paper as most of the background. The Soccer paper was used for the
strip across the bottom with the whole layout completed on burgundy paper
I had in my stash. I used elements from both the Die Cut Banners and Pieces.
Tombow Foam Tabs added dimension to the die cut soccer ball and stars.
This is one of my favorite pages.

Lots to be Thankful For!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I wish you and your family a wonderful day full of thanks.

I chose this layout for the day of thanks since my family is one of the many things I am thankful for ~ along with health, happiness and much more.  I love the many different ways you can coordinate the papers in the Acorn Hollow collection by Little Yellow Bicycle

The papers I used are: Pretty Plaid/Flowered Dot, Walnut Woodgrain/Fleur de Lovely, and Bountiful Bands/Textured Teal (two of the strips from the bands).  I cut out the F from Button, Button/Tiny Tonal Walnut Stripeand placed on rectangle piece from the Fancy Forrest/Pumpkin Pinstripe paper.  I used die cuts from the Country Pumpkin Chowder Pea Pods and the Apple Cheddar Soup stickers adding brads for some extra detail.

I am also Thankful for you: all my followers and customers.  You make this enjoyable and worthwhile.  THANK YOU!!!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Count Your Blessings

Count your blessing with Prairie Hill is the collection used in this layout, accented with items from , Country Pumpkin Chowder Pea Pod Diecuts and Apple Cheddar Soup Stickers.  Papers used were Hilltop, Flight Pattern, and Kite Strings.  This collection is so versatile in so many ways.  The colors allow the artist to create a fall layout (pictured below), a summer layout (like the one in a previous post), fall cards (Cassie designed a few), or even a pages showcasing spring or flying kites.  The possibilities go on and on.  Would love to see how you use the paper.

Scrapbooking with Photo Sleeves

If you are like me, you print too many pictures of one event.  When it
is time to scrapbook the pictures, they all will not fit on your layout.

There is a solution to that called 4x6 Photo Sleeves.   They come in handy
for those extra pictures and are the same size as the 12x12 page protectors.
I usually put the 4x6 sleeves near an actual scrapbook page of the same event.
These will be place near the pages that were in the 1, 2, 3 Striker You're Out
post.  I like to use each 4x6 space as a mini scrapbook "page."  This page uses
from the Little Sport collection by Fancy Pants.  It is fun to scrapbook
pictures this way and you can use your scraps.

(I do not like posting friends' children - hence the pixelated faces)

These pictures focus on some of the 4x6 pockets.

So the next time you have an abundance of pictures, consider trying the 4x6 photo sleeves in your scrapbook.  Check out The Memory Nest for this great product.

Happy Mini Scrapping!

Gather Together, Give Thanks, Eat Pie!

I am thankful for this collection by Fancy Pants called Summers End.  It is ideal for Thanksgiving related projects and can also be used for summer themed creations.  There are so many possibilities with this collection with the coordinating papers, stickers, cards and strips.  The peach color in these papers paired with the blue stand out to give it a different look than the one most of us are accustomed to [with fall papers].

This layout uses the following stickers: a heart, a strip, and 2 stars to embellish the Falling Frames paper, which I trimmed down and adhered to the left side of the paper.  I used a piece of brown cardstock to mat one of the cards (cut from the large sheet) and used it as a title for the "tweet" little ones in these pics.
This layout incorporates the strips paper along with pieces from Abundance and Falling Frames papers.  I added detail with stickers and brads.
Once again the strip stickers along with the saying and heart stickers add detail to the papers used on this page - Strips and Falling Leaves (both sides).  The background paper is Walnut Cream by Bazzill Basics.  Make sure to check our site to see which Bazzill Basics paper coordinate with The Summers End collection.

I made sure to search out paper that can be used for that special time of the year when we gather together, give thanks and eat pie.  Make sure to check out the other Thanksgiving paper collections carried by The Memory Nest (Little Yellow Bicycle - Acorn Hollow; Jillibean Soup - Apple Cheddar Soup and Country Pumpkin Chowder) and the blog posts that showcase those lines.

Oh Bring us some Figgy Pudding!

The simple papers in the Christmas Cheer collection from Lily Bee are so fun and easy to work with.  The colors coordinate well with Christmas and winter wonderland pictures.  I was thrilled that the paper coordinated with the colors in my daughters nightgown.  One of my scrapbooking techniques is pulling color inspiration from my photos ~ I usually choose coordinating papers to match the colors in the pictures. The papers used in this layout are: Figgy Pudding, Hot Cocoa and FrostyThe garland at the top of the page was created on the Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge.
I created holiday tags with the scraps of paper I had left.  Most were created on the Cricut with the Joys of the Season cartridge.  You do not need to have a Cricut to make adorable tags with this paper collection.  A few of the tags were made by cutting a rectangular shape and adding different strips or shapes.  Punch a hole for attaching ribbon or jute, which would give it a rustic, country look.

Oh Boy! Snow BOY!!!

The Doodlecharms cartridge by Cricut has a snow globe shape that I have always wanted to incorporate into a winter themed page.  The in this layout are from a couple of years ago when we got a lot of snow.  With all the snow depicted in these pictures, I knew this layout would be a great opportunity for the snow globe idea (with a snowy picture in the center).

The paper used on this page is by Lily Bee from the Christmas Cheer collection: Figgy Pudding, Hot Cocoa and Frosty.  Cassie D'Ambrosio, who is designing for The Memory Nest, posted a card on her blog using this same collection.  If you missed it, be sure to check it out.

paper owl {cassie d'ambrosio}:

:

Hello. This week I'm featuring another fantastic paper line from Lily Bee called Christmas Cheer. For this card I used both sides of "Frosty" sheet. I cut one rectangle of the paper and then cut it again vertically and flipped it over - an easy way to create a background pattern for a card. I used a combination of Copic markers and Stampin' Up! markers to quickly color in the polar bear. I added a line of white gel pen around the outside of the patterned paper to tie in the white embossed sentiment.

Tomorrow I will be posting scrapbook pages using the same collection.  Like what you see?  Follow The Memory Nest Blog for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate and Washi Tape!

Embellishing Using Clusters

The other day I was reading a blog by Bo Bunny about a Cluster contest.  I decided to read one of their earlier blogs that described what clustering was even though I could kind of figure it out by looking at the posted layouts (http://bobunny.blogspot.com/search?q=clustering).

Clustering is taking different embellishments and grouping them around the focal point of your page such as a picture.  Of course, this can be done with different textures, heights, colors, etc.

I decided to try my craft hand at it .  Along the way I learned [from the internet] that things look best to the eye in groups of three to five.  I mostly used the Cricut Rock Princess cartridge for my design adding a brad or piece of ribbon in and depth with foam tabs.

Try clustering next time you are scrapbooking.  This was my first attempt at it and I look forward to using this technique more often with different embellishments and materials.

I would love to see what you do with clustering.  Please share your craftiness!
Happy Clustering!

paper owl {cassie d'ambrosio}: You Shine - Pink Pailsee Prairie Hill

paper owl {cassie d'ambrosio}: You Shine - Pink Pailsee Prairie Hill: My third card with this collection and I'm still loving it.  Here I used my silhouette to cut the banner and backed it with card stock and some patterned paper for the sun. I added some more patterned paper over the banner points and trimmed out with scissors. I added some baker's twine across the bottom and top. To add a little more detail I scored a rectangle around the background patterned paper. I rounded the bottom corners with the 1/4" corner chomper.

Beach Paper to Scrapbook Page!

One of my favorite things to scrapbook is anything beach (or summer).  The Memory Nest has tons of papers that can be used for summer or beach themed pages.  Check them out.  I am sure many of the scrapbookers out there have plenty of pictures ready to be scrapped after the wonderful summer we just had.

The papers used in this layout are Beachy and Splash from the Paradise Beach collection by Echo Park.  I loved the way the blues in the paper accentuated the water in the background.  The water was so clear and this paper is just subtle enough to complement the gorgeous scenery.  I cut out the letters on the Cricut with the Alphalicious cartridge and the sand dollar was cut out using Life's a Beach.

Pretty, Pretty, Pretty! Pretty Prairie Hill!

The Memory Nest and Cassie, who is designing for the store, have been posting cards and layouts this week using Prairie Hill by Pink Paislee.  This layout is summer themed like the one I posted yesterday.  I love how the orange in my son's shirt compliments the orange in the paper.  I layered different sized circles to add a curved texture to the lines in the layout, and placed the title and subtitles around the layered circles to form a focal point.

It is amazing how this scrapbook page has a different look than the one in the previous post even though both use the same paper collection.  There are so many possibilities with Prairie Hill.  Pretty, Pretty, Pretty. Pretty Prairie Hill.

Summer Layout with Prairie Hill

Yesterday we featured Cassie's fall card that was created using the Prairie Hill collection by Pink Paislee.  Today I am showcasing that same line on a summer themed scrapbook page.  The thing I love about these papers are the colors because they leave you with so many options when creating.

The three strips (Kite Strings, Flight Pattern and Hilltop) paired with the Aqua cardstock by Bazzill Basics was the look I wanted for this page.  The title, with each letter cut from one of the three papers, was made using the Cricut cartridge Alphalicious.  To accentuate the circles in the Kite String paper, I made flags and used brads to add dimension.  The ribbon across the bottom was something I had in my stash and also added extra dimension or texture.  To complete the page, I cut out different sized circle to make a flower design.  I attached a brad in the middle and the ribbon as the leaves.

The Memory Nest would love to hear what you think about this design.  All papers for this collection are double sided and leave you with many options when creating cards are pages.
Happy Election Day!
Leslie

paper owl {cassie d'ambrosio}: Pink Paislee - Prairie Hill

paper owl {cassie d'ambrosio}: Pink Paislee - Prairie Hill: Hi - I'm here again with another card for The Memory Nest. As soon as I saw this collection I knew it would be one of my favorites. I love the colors - aqua, orange, dark yellow, brown... and the awesome patterns! I couldn't decide which patterns to use so I made a card with several of them in vertical strips. I stamped the sentiment on vellum with Versamark ink and embossed with white embossing powder. I love how the transparency of the vellum allows the beautiful patterned papers to show through.

Pink Paislee Prairie Hill...love!

Thanks to Cassie for this wonderful card and design.  Tomorrow I will be posting a scrapbook page using the same line - Prairie Hill.

Thank you for visiting and Happy Monday!
